5 Tips for Post Holiday Organaizing

Recovering from the chaos and indulgences of the holidays can feel like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be! January is the perfect time to start fresh, declutter your home and mind, and set good intentions for the new year.  Check out our tips below to help you get started.

  1. IMMEDIATELY DEAL WITH UNWANTED GIFTS

Return, re-gift, donate…there are plenty of options for what to do with gifts you less than loved, but don’t wait around on deciding what to do with those gifts and let them become clutter. If you have children, rotate out toys with between what they already had and what they received new this year. Keep a list of charities you like donating to if you’re unable to return or re-gift and put your unwanted gifts towards a good cause.

  1. EVALUATE AND DOWNSIZE YOUR HOLIDAY DÉCOR

When packing up your holiday décor it can be useful to evaluate what you have and decide what’s worth keeping for next year. If you have decorations you don’t actually use or love, consider adding them to the donation pile. This can also go for additional gift wrapping supplies you may be left with like wrapping paper, bags, or bows.

  1. GIVE YOUR HOME A DEEP CLEAN

Who says you can’t get a head start on spring cleaning? Giving your home a good clean while you’re already in the process of sorting gifts and putting away decorations is a smart way to multitask. For those still working from home this can make the transtion from holiday mayhem back to an organized work week a bit easier.

  1. AUTOMATE MANUAL PROCESSES WHENEVER POSSIBLE

While you’re clearing your home from clutter you can also clear your mind by getting small tasks around the house off your to do list with automation integrations. Home automation not only saves time and energy, but it can also increase financial savings on utility bills and offer peace of mind when away from your home. Maybe you got a cool new smart home gadget as a gift or just want to streamline home processes, but winter's a good time to start!

  1. SEND THANK YOU CARDS RIGHT AWAY

Now that you’re finished dealing with the gifts you didn’t love, thank your friends and family for the ones that you did with thank you cards. Thank you cards are a great way to show appreciation for your gift, and sending them right away means you can finally put your holiday season to a close, relax and enjoy your clean and organized home!
